Huawei launch new in-car wifi device

A connected vehicle provides the driver with numerous benefits including up to the minute traffic information and access to emergency assistance as well as keeping passengers amused and online. Huawei’s CarFi uses in-car 4G LTE technology to enable up to ten smartphones and tablets to connect. The device’s USB port can also be used to charge up devices such as smartphones and tablets.

CarFi  plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter or in car charger and becomes a wi-fi hotspot providing automotive connectivity, known in the industy as telematics. The device is a plug and play device with a simple one touch turn on for safety and convenience. The device is not fixed and can be moved between different vehicles. CarFi can be remotely controlled from android and ios devices using the Huawei Hilink app which can be downloaded for iTunes and Google Play.

CarFi does not require a battery and has a self regulating temperature function so there is no danger of the device  over heating. The device will automatically power down  when no wifi devices are detected in the car.CarFi is available in three colours to match and enhance any cars interior. ‘fashion elite red’ ,’warm family brown’ and ‘dynamic speed red’. CarFi will go on sale in South Africa later this year. There is no pricing information as yet.

Steven Liu, Huawei’s VP of Mobile Broadband and home product Line says “ At Huawei we aim to be one step ahead in providing great technology that meets connectivity needs in every aspect of life”.
