America's InFocus takes India by storm with its smartphones

InFocus is a privately owned US company that launched in 1986 and started producing budget smartphones in 2013. InFocus initially concentrated on the Chinese and Asian Smartphone market and was a relative latecomer to India introducing its first Smartphone there in March. 65% of InFocus’s customer base is made up of 18-25 year olds, according to a company report.


On March 10th the InFocus M2 Smartphone went on sale through Indian e-commerce partner Snapdeal, retailing at 4,999 INR ($78).The budget android Smartphone which is available in black or white has a 4.2 inch screen and 8 Megapixel rear and front cameras.

InFocus then released their second device in India, the M330 Dual SIM Smartphone which has a 5.5 inch screen with IPS HD display. The device gives 7 hours of movie viewing or 18 hours of talk time and features a 13 MP rear camera and 8MP selfie camera .The M330 Smartphone directly competes with India’s own Micromax Yu Yureka, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note and Huawei’s Honor 4X .The M330 is priced at 9,999 INR ($156)

A delighted Sachin Thapar, head of InFocus India said “We are thrilled at hitting this milestone so early in our journey” adding “within just three months of the launch it was proved that Indian customers value quality above everything else”. InFocus smartphones are designed in the US and manufactured by Foxconn.  In Focus plan to build on their success in India by expanding their range of smartphones and have also set up service centres in 30 cities around India.

India is the world’s fastest growing Smartphone market and experts predict that within 4 years every adult in India will own a Smartphone as the market becomes flooded with cheap devices. In 2014 the number of Smartphone users in India was estimated to be 140 million, a rise of 55%.
